Terms of Service

1. About these terms
These terms cover use of this website and the basis on which enquiries and quotations are handled. Angavu Africa Insights is a privately owned research business operating in Kenya.
2. Using this website
The content of this site is provided for information. It describes services that may be offered and does not constitute an offer capable of acceptance, professional advice, or a recommendation to act.
The illustrative samples published on this site are demonstration documents written for the website. They are not client work, they are not research findings, and nothing in them should be cited, relied upon or presented as evidence.
You may read, print and share pages of this site for your own use. You may not reproduce the content commercially, or present it as your own work, without permission.
3. Enquiries
Submitting an enquiry does not create a contract and does not oblige us to accept the work. We aim to respond to every enquiry, including where the answer is that we cannot take the project on. No response time is guaranteed.
Please do not send confidential material, datasets or personal data about research participants with a first enquiry. If you do, it will be handled in line with the Privacy Policy, but we would prefer to agree how such material should be transferred before it is sent.
4. Quotations
A quotation sets out the scope, deliverables, timeline, number of revision rounds, price and payment terms, together with anything specifically excluded. A quotation is valid for the period stated in it and may be withdrawn or revised before it is accepted.
A quotation is based on the information supplied at the time. If the work turns out to be materially different from what was described, the quotation may need to be revised, and that will be discussed before any additional work is done.
5. Acceptance of work
Work is accepted at our discretion. Whether a project can be taken on depends on its scope, timing, the data involved, available capacity, any approvals or permissions required, and mutual agreement on terms.
Certain work will not be accepted in any circumstances. This includes:
- Private investigation, background checks or screening of individuals
- Security consultancy, risk assessment, audits, plans, guarding or training
- Academic assignments, essays, theses or dissertations for submission as a student's own work
- Work that would require a licence, approval or permission that has not been obtained
- Work that would involve handling personal data without a proper basis for doing so
6. Scope and deliverables
Work begins once the scope, price and arrangements have been agreed in writing by both sides. Deliverables are as described in the agreed quotation.
Revisions within the agreed scope are included up to the number of rounds stated. A change to the scope itself is a variation, discussed and agreed before it is carried out, and may affect the price and timeline.
Timely delivery depends in part on the client. Where we are waiting on data, documents, access or feedback, the timeline moves accordingly.
7. What we do not promise
Research produces what the evidence supports. We do not guarantee that analysis will produce any particular result, that a review will support a position already held, or that a conclusion will be favourable. Descriptive analysis describes a dataset; it does not establish cause.
Where the available evidence or data cannot answer the question asked, the deliverable will say so. That is a proper outcome of research, not a failure to deliver.
8. Confidentiality
Material provided for an assignment is used for that assignment and not for anything else. We will enter into a non-disclosure agreement where one is required, and are willing to work under the client's own form of agreement.
Client material and client data are never used in the illustrative samples on this website or in any other promotional material. We will not name a client or describe an assignment publicly without written permission.
9. Intellectual property
Material you supply remains yours. Rights in the deliverables are dealt with in the agreement for the assignment. Unless agreed otherwise, rights in a commissioned deliverable pass to the client on payment in full, while we retain the right to use the underlying methods and general know-how, which carry no client information.
10. Payment
Payment terms, including any deposit and the schedule for the balance, are set out in the quotation and agreed before work starts.
11. Liability
We carry out work with reasonable skill and care. Deliverables are prepared for the purpose and audience agreed, and should not be relied upon for a different purpose without checking with us first.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded in law. Subject to that, our liability in relation to an assignment is limited to the fees paid for it.
12. Governing law
These terms and any assignment agreed under them are governed by the laws of Kenya.
13. Changes
These terms may be updated. The version in force for an assignment is the one in effect when that assignment was agreed.
